Maymyo (Pyin Oo Lwin) holidays

The small town of Pyin Oo Lwin, formerly known as Maymyo, was founded as a British Army hill station in the Shan highlands, 67km east of Mandalay. As well as a military outpost, the town was also an important educational centre, hosting a number of schools and military academies serving mainly the colonial settlers. Today, the town retains a significant military presence, but has also become an important business centre specialising in silkworm rearing and research, pharmaceuticals, vegetables, coffee and flowers.
