Day 3-4: Batang AiTravel by road and boat to the Aiman Batang Ai Resort & Retreat on the shores of Batang Ai lake for a 2-night stay. Visit a traditional longhouse and learn about the life of the local Iban tribe. (B, L, D)
Day 5: KuchingTravel back to Kuching for a city tour visiting temples, markets and museums. Stay at the Hilton Kuching for 1 night. (B)
Day 6-7: Fly to Kota KinabaluFly to Kota Kinabalu and stay 2 nights at the Hyatt Regency. Visit the Kinabalu National Park to search for rare Rafflesia flowers. (B)
Day 8: Fly to Sandakan • SepilokVisit Sepilok to see the morning feeding of the reserve’s orang utans, which are being reintroduced into the wild. Visit the nearby Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, then stay one night at the MY Nature Resort. (B, L, D)
Days 9-10: Kinabatangan river excursionsTravel to Abai on the banks of Kinabatangan river and stay 2 nights at a jungle lodge. Board a river cruise to see proboscis monkeys, orang utans, pygmy elephants and a variety of birdlife. (B, L, D)
Days 11-12: Danum valleyDrive south to Danum valley to search for wild orang utans, walk in the rainforest and along canopy walkways. Stay 2 nights at Borneo Rainforest Lodge. (B, L, D)

The MY Nature Resort is located just 15 minutes' drive from Sandakan airport, and 5 minutes from the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. The resort encompasses 25 acres of landscaped gardens and jungle, with a wooden boardwalk that connects the 24 semi-detached chalets with the restaurant and some jungle walks. The resort organises a daily guided night walk which guests can join to discover the sounds of the forest after dark. Torches can be hired locally for MYR10 ($5).
The Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge is situated 47km from the mouth of the Kinabatangan river in an area of rainforest home to many birds and monkeys. This eco-friendly resort utlilises solar panels for water heating and biodegradable toiletries to minimise its impact on the environment. The lodge's rooms are set in a number of stilited semi-detached bungalows throughout the jungle, connected to the main lodge by a series of walkways. Features: 33 rooms, restaurant/bar, air conditioned TV lounge, terrace. Room amenities: En suite bathroom with hot showers, ceiling fan.

Rooms are equipped with satellite television, hi-speed broadband internet access and a comfortable workspace. The Hilton Kuching has a wonderful location on Kuching's riverfront promenade overlooking the Sarawak river, a 25-minute drive from Kuching International Airport. Guests can sample local specialties at the Waterfront Café or Toh Yuen restaurant, or international cuisine at the Steakhouse. Accommodation is available in a range of rooms and suites, all bright and spacious and equipped with modern amenities. Suites and higher category guestrooms feature river views.
With the backdrop of a thick blanket of virgin rainforest hanging over a meandering river, Borneo Rainforest Lodge offers comfortable accommodation in stilted bungalows with en suite bathrooms, polished wooden floors, ceiling fans and balconies, some with river views. Facilities include a lounge bar, gift shop and restaurant serving freshly prepared buffet meals.
The Abai Jungle Lodge is set in the isolated, wildlife rich Abai region on the Kinabatangan River, and only accessible by boat. Nestled amidst the jungle canopy just a stone's throw from the river, the property’s guestrooms are situated within wooden pavilions connected by boardwalks. Accommodation is simple, with no air conditioning, but rooms are bright, clean and comfortable. The lodge is ecologically conscious, utilising low emission generators and rainwater collected in cisterns above the chalets. Features: 26 rooms, restaurant & bar, jungle boardwalks, WiFi. Room amenities: Ceiling fan, safe, netted windows, en suite bathroom with hot and cold running water.
