You begin in Prague, the ‘city of a hundred spires’, with its castle, cathedral, and charming cobbled streets. Unwind in the UNESCO-listed spa city of Karlovy Vary, then continue to Dresden, restored to its former glory. Privately tour the pretty town Görlitz, before finishing in Berlin, whose grand landmarks and riveting museums beckon. You travel by road and rail throughout, enjoying ample time at leisure to explore.

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Prague. The Czech capital is compact, walkable, and paved with history, not least the medieval Charles Bridge and the gothic-spired Prague Castle, complete with astronomical clock. Further highlights include the Old Town Square, Vitas Cathedral, the transforming Franz Kafka Statue, and the hilltop lookout of Petrin.

Travel north by train to the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad), where you are met and transferred to Grandhotel Pupp for 3 nights.

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Karlovy Vary, one of UNESCO’s ‘Great Spa Towns of Europe’. Founded in the 14th century, the city was named after Charles IV, King of Bohemia. It’s most famous for its many mineral-rich hot springs – including gushing geysers – as well as its handsome 19th-century buildings. You could visit the various colonnades, which house springs for both drinking and bathing, and even venture underground to see where the thermal waters emerge. Or perhaps journey by funicular to the Diana Lookout Tower for an elevated view of the city and its forested surrounds.

Travel by train for approximately 50 minutes to visit the quiet town of Cheb, home to the remains of a 12th-century castle and typified by traditional pastel-hued buildings. Alternatively, spend another day at leisure in Karlovy Vary.
