Fly to Madrid, pick up your hire car at the airport and drive to Segovia.
Explore the old town of Segovia and its Roman aqueduct, the Royal Palace
of La Granja de San Ildefonso with its 18th-century palace and gardens,
and Riofrio Palace. Continue to the picturesque town of Avila to explore its
immense medieval walls, the Alcázar and the splendid San Vicente gates.
Drive to Salamanca and stay at the Las Claras Hotel for 2 nights. (N)

the Plaza Mayor, which is the grandest and largest square in Spain,
