Accommodation rating: Superior

Construction of the monastery of San Marcos began in the 16th century to accommodate the pilgrims travelling on the Pilgrims way to Santiago. Today, part of the building is a luxury hotel, owned by the Parador hotel chain. In keeping with the magnificent architecture of the city, the convent is considered to be one of the most significant monuments of the Renaissance movement in Spain. Its prominent location in the centre of Leon allows guests to easily explore the main highlights of the city on foot, including the cathedral, La Casa Botines and the Basilica of San Isidoro.
