This tour combines Portugal’s two principal cities of Porto and Lisbon, travelling between the two on board the efficient and fast train service. Staying in excellent city centre hotels, there is plenty of opportunity to explore the various museums and palaces in both cities.

Fly to Porto. Transfer to the Hotel Infante de
Sagres, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels
of the World group, for a 3-night stay. (N)
Morning walking tour from the hotel. Portugal’s
second largest city was built overlooking the
mouth of the Douro river – an outstanding
urban landscape with a Unesco-listed historical
centre. The city is known for its steep cobbled
streets of colourful houses, delicious cuisine
and charismatic locals. Highlights include the
Clérigos Tower, Avenida dos Aliados and the
Ribera district on the shoreline. (B)
Day at leisure to further explore Porto.
Alternatively, take a cruise into the beautiful
Douro valley, famed for its wine and Port
Morning at leisure. In the early afternoon, take
the Alfa Pendular high-speed train to Lisbon
(approximately 3 hours). On arrival, transfer to
the Palácio do Governador for a 3-night stay. (B)
Morning tour of the Portuguese capital with a
driver-guide. Enjoy the city’s colourful quirky
architecture, world-class museums and
excellent restaurants. We recommend making
time for the Tile Museum and the Lisbon
Aquarium in Parque das Nações. The city has
a fascinating maritime history, with explorers
such as Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan setting sail from here to discover the

Day at leisure to enjoy Lisbon. Explore the
capital on foot, or aboard one of the city’s
iconic yellow trams. Alternatively, take a day
excursion to Sintra Palace and Cascais. (B)
