It is home to many monuments and buildings, which are now classified as Unesco wor;d heritage sites. Praca do Giraldo is the main square and is filled with many small cafes and shops as well as having a magnificent fountain, which was erected in 1571.
Explore the City Museum showing Evora’s history from Roman times and a collection of 16th century paintings and modern sculpture. One of the most interesting buildings is the Graca Church, a Renaissance building in granite with four figures holding globes. Another interesting church is the Church of São Francisco, a Manueline-Gothic church completed in 1510.
