Evora is located in southern Portugal in the Alentejo region and is described as one of Portugal’s finest towns. It is home to many monuments and buildings, which are now classified as Unesco wor;d heritage sites. Praca do Giraldo is the main square and is filled with many small cafes and shops as well as having a magnificent fountain, which was erected in 1571.
Explore the City Museum showing Evora’s history from Roman times and a collection of 16th century paintings and modern sculpture. One of the most interesting buildings is the Graca Church, a Renaissance building in granite with four figures holding globes. Another interesting church is the Church of São Francisco, a Manueline-Gothic church completed in 1510.
