Itinerary
Arrive in Oslo, Norway
Upon arrival, you are met and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel. As an introduction to Norway’s capital, enjoy a three-hour walking tour with a local guide. Stand-out sights include the Oslo Opera House, with its walkable exterior of white angles that slope to meet the water; the Munch Museum, a leaning monolith that houses some 26,000 artworks by Edvard Munch, including “The Scream”; and the Palace Park, a 22-hectare sprawl of landscaped greenery that frames the Royal Palace. Overnight in a superior room at the Grand Hotel Oslo or similar. (B)
Meal basis: As per itinerary – B: Breakfast, L: Lunch, D: Dinner, N: No meal
Roros
This morning, you are privately transferred to Oslo Railway Station. Here you board a train to the UNESCO-listed town of Roros, riding in comfort class. Independently arrive at your hotel, staying two nights in a superior room at Erzscheidergaarden Hotel (or similar). (B)
Roros
Your day is at leisure to explore the heritage mining town of Roros, set high in the hills of Trondelag. Roros is one of the oldest wood-built towns in Europe, and most of its buildings are constructed out of lumber in a characteristically Scandinavian tradition. As well as admiring the scenery, be sure to sample the food; this region is one of Norway’s most fertile, and you needn’t look far for authentically Norwegian produce to try. (B)
Trondheim
Take the train from Roros to Trondheim, riding in the best available class. Upon arrival, you are privately transferred to your centrally located hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure, with some time in the evening to explore this fjord-side city of cobblestone streets, riverine views, and Michelin-starred restaurants. Stay the night in a superior double room at the Britannia Hotel (or similar). (B)
Trondheim
The Nidelva River bisects Trondheim, and today’s boat tour along its course lets you admire the city from the water. Pass through the centre, by historical merchant houses whose colourful wood-clad facades have been preserved, and into Trondheimsfjord – the third-longest fjord in Norway. The rest of your day is at leisure. Stay the night in a superior double room at the Britannia Hotel (or similar). (B)
Trondheim
Your day is at leisure. This is your opportunity to explore more of Trondheim’s attractions, such as Nidaros Cathedral, whose towering gothic structure sits atop the medieval tomb of Viking monarch, Saint Olaf. Stay the night in a superior double room at the Britannia Hotel (or similar). (B)
Fly to the UK
You are privately transferred to Trondheim Airport for your flight back to the UK. (B)
