Situated next to the scenic Gamle Strynefjellsvegen National Tourist Route, the Grotli Hoyfjellshotel is a carefully preserved mountain lodge dating back to the 1860s. The hotel is run by fifth and sixth generation owners whose forefathers came to Grotli in 1870 to run a state-owned "Fjellstue," a mountain lodge established to shelter men and horses crossing the mountain pass. The property offers 53 basic but comfortably spacious rooms featuring traditional Norwegian décor and period furnishings, equipped with WiFi access. The hotel has a restaurant with its own open fireplace and antique furniture that generates an atmosphere of old-world charm and serves variety of international and Norwegian dishes. There is also a café which sells locally produced cheese, herbs and spices available to guests staying at the hotel.
