Lazio & Umbria: A Journey through the Heart of Italy

Discover Lazio and Umbria, two neighbouring regions rich in history. This tailor-made holiday begins in the ‘Eternal City’ of Rome, where you can explore well-known attractions or seek out hidden gems. Continue to the lakeside town of Castel Gandolfo and the grand Papal Palace, once the summer retreat of the Pope. Then journey through the countryside by train to Umbria, a place of medieval villages tucked amid rolling hills. Here you spend four nights in the ancient walled city of Perugia, and visit Assisi, including the basilica that is the final resting place of Italy’s patron saint Francis of Assisi.

Rome

Your day is at leisure to explore the ‘Eternal City’. Around every corner of Rome lie signs of its 3,000-year history, from ancient ruins to renaissance palaces. Beyond its historical attractions, Italy’s storied capital is also excellent for shopping, dining out and people watching.  (B)
