The Ligurian riviera stretches from Ventimiglia, on the French border, to the busy seaports of Genoa and La Spezia. Featuring some of the most scenic coastline in Europe, towns hugging rugged cliff faces, charming harbours and small villages of cobbled alleys, the riviera has a wealth of areas to explore. Visit the exclusive town of Portofino, which offers great sea views, or Cinque Terre National Park, a Unesco world heritage site.
Easily combinable with a stay in Florence, Siena or Pisa, the Tuscan riviera is an ideal choice for a city and beach stay. Viareggio is the largest and most popular town on the riviera. It contains some excellent beaches coupled with some fine hotels. We would recommend the landmark Plaza de Russie, the town’s first hotel. For a more exclusive destination, Forte Dei Marmi is a chic alternative, while Santa Margherita Ligure has the authentic character of an Italian seaside resort.
