Due to the dominant colour of the city’s elegant monuments, the university town of Bologna is also know as the Red City. Having been founded in the 6th Century BC, Bologna was the Etruscan Po Valley territories capital for 200 years. Main sights of the city include the Basilica, the medieval Piazza Maggoire and the 15th century Neptune’s Fountain.
