Ischia is the largest of the islands in the Bay of Naples and has attracted visitors over the centuries due to its medicinal spas, which use the island’s thermal hot springs and its volcanic mud. There are a number of small villages on the island, the largest being Ischia Porto. The geography of the island is mostly mountainous and this allows for excellent hiking and trekking holidays. Home to one of the first Greek colonies in the 8th century, the island still has a number of interesting sites including the 14th century Aragonese castle.
