Owned by one family since 1908, the Hotel Saturnia offers excellent service in a former palace dating back to the 14th-century. Centrally located on a fashionable street between the Accademia and St Mark's square, the hotel bar was a favourite for visiting intellectuals including Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir in the 1950s. The hotel restaurant also attracts a wide clientele and offers alfresco dining in an internal courtyard. Other facilities include a rooftop bar and solarium. Warm colours, stone floors, wood beams and a 15th-century staircase create a comfortable atmosphere. Each room is individually decorated, some in contemporary style but most with traditional features including beamed ceilings, wood floors, glass chandeliers and antique furnishings.
