The village of Reykholt is most famous for once being the home of Snorri Sturluson, the poet and possible contributor to the Icelandic sagas. The remains of his homestead have been excavated with certain parts open to visitors. The geothermally heated bath Snorri used to use is still working today, while a library in the village showcases some of Snorri’s works. The waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss are also only a short drive from the village, as are the hot springs at Deildartunguhver, known for being the most powerful in Europe.
