Nicknamed the ‘lobster town’, Höfn is situated in south-east Iceland and has a population of around 2,000 people. The small fishing town is set on a peninsula with the sea on three sides, while, from the centre, there are views of the Vatnajökull glacial ice cap, the second-largest in Europe. The area’s other major source of income is tourism with the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, only an hour’s drive away, and seasonal museums such as those dedicated to glaciers and folk history located in the town itself.
