Fly to Keflavik international airport. Transfer to
Reykjavik and stay overnight at the Fosshotel
Lind (or similar). (N)
Head out of Reykjavik to Thingvellir National
Park, a Unesco world heritage site where the
world’s oldest parliament met for centuries on
the shores of Iceland’s largest lake. Continue
to the geothermal fields of Geysir, with the
high-spouting Strokkur hot spring. Finish at
the dramatic two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall,
a spectacular sight in winter when frozen
mid-cascade. Stay 1 night at Hotel Selfoss (or
similar). (B, D)
Drive along the south shore, stopping at the
spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and
Skogafoss. Continue past Myrdalsjokull glacier
and visit Reynisfjara beach. Take a walk on
the black sands and admire the extraordinary
rock formations and thundering waves of
the Atlantic. Dinner and overnight stay in
Kirkjubaejarklaustur area, staying at Fosshotel
Nupar (or similar) for 2 nights. (B, D)
Drive through Vatnajokull National Park, a vast
sand plain created by glacial outwashes as you
head east en route to the Vatnajokull area.
Visit Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, full of icebergs
floating in the deep glacial waters. (B, D)
Return to the Icelandic capital via the village of
Hveragerdi, one of the few sites in the world located directly in the middle of a geothermal
area. Visit the greenhouses. Back on the
Reykjanes peninsula, stop at the Blue Lagoon
for a dip in the restorative milky-blue waters.
Stay at Fosshotel Lind (or similar) for 1 night. (B)
Transfer to Keflavik airport for your flight
As per itinerary – B: Breakfast,
