The third largest island in the Cyclades (after Naxos and Andros) is 195 km2 in area and 95 sea-miles from Piraeus, and a 6 km wide channel separates it from Naxos. If you follow the coastline, you will notice two natural bays, the Naousa Bay and the Bay of Parikia, which have been created by the channel. It is here that the main town and port of the island, Paros is situated. Walking from the port in Parikia to the left you will find the cathedral Our Lady of the Hundred Doors or Katapoliani, one of the most important churches in Greece. There are beautiful beaches all along the coast, and the most famous is the Golden Coast close to Drios on the eastern coast.
