Kos is part of the Dodecanese Islands situated in the southern Aegean Sea and home to a number of long sandy beaches, historical sites and culture. The main port and town, called Kos Town, is the cultural centre of the island, full of white washed buildings and a number of restaurants and cafes serving fresh local food. There are also a number of historical sites on the island, including the ruins of Asklepieion and Herodicus.
