Copenhagen, Scandinavia’s second largest city, retains much of the intimate atmosphere of the fishing harbour town it once was. Many of the city’s most impressive buildings date from the golden age of the 17th century when the extensive canal network was founded. Today it offers excellent museums, high quality restaurants, gabled houses, cobbled streets, vibrant markets, ancient harbours and the wonderful Tivoli Gardens.
