Situated on a plateau in the eastern part of Albania. Korca is a medium sized town, which was founded during the Ottoman Empire. During the last 100 years, the town was a centre of dissent against occupying Greek, Italian and German forces. It was here that the underground communist movement, which later became Enver Hoxha ruling party – the Albanian Party of labour, was formed.
