Begin in Chihuahua in the north. Visit Pancho Villa’s former home and the Museum of Revolution. (N)
Board the Chihuahua Pacific train to the stunning Copper Canyon. Stay at Posada Barrancas Mirador. Visit the Divisadero outlook, with pure, crisp, clean air and incredible views across the Urique canyon, the deepest of the canyons in the area. (B, D)
Descend by train through the Sierra Madre mountains to El Fuerte. (B)
Drive to Los Mochis and fly or take an overnight ferry (private cabin with air conditioning) across the Sea of Cortez to La Paz. Take a boat trip to Espiritu Santo island to spot sea lions and blue whales (Jan – Mar). (B)
Continue through the rugged desert to Los Cabos or picturesque Todos Santos and relax on the coast for 2 nights. Extend your stay further, or continue your journey. (B)
