Las Terrazas Established as a sustainable rural development project in 1994, Las Terrazas takes its name from the forested hillside terraces at the eastern part of the Pinar del Rio province. Part of the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, it comprises 5,000 hectares of lush forested hills with walks and waterfalls, ruins of old French coffee plantations and a local rural community. Initially aimed at environmental conservation and sustaining the local community, the area now provides a glimpse into Cuba's true rural landscape.
