Casas particulares are privately run bed and breakfast-style accommodation; the term covers a range of different properties, from old colonial buildings to rustic and modern local houses, and standards vary widely. Some of the casas particulares do not have names, and are simply referred to by the name of the owners, while others are called 'hostals', the Spanish word for a guesthouse, but all are considered to be casas particulares. The properties feature very simple rooms with en suite facilities, and continental breakfast is included. Cox & Kings works with a selection of casas however, due to the way in which the casa particular programme operates, specific casas cannot be confirmed in advance.
