Travel to Monteverde for a 2-night stay at Senda Monteverde, ideally located just minutes from the famous cloud forest reserve. Take in the views of the tropical gardens and distant Pacific Ocean from the open-air porch of your casita or explore the hotel's network of nature trails to spot roaming coatis or agoutis. (B)
Take a walk through the cloud forest accompanied by an expert guide and observe a variety of wildlife such as toucans, sloths and howler monkeys amongst ferns, hanging vines and flowering orchids. If you're lucky you may spot the beautiful and elusive resplendent quetzal. (B)
Transfer to Origins Lodge, situated between Tenorio and Miravalles volcanoes, on the edge of a small rural community in Guanacaste province. Stay for 2 nights and enjoy panoramic views over the property's expansive grounds and towards Lake Nicaragua. Take a stroll or a horse ride around the estate to discover tropical gardens and fishing lakes, or hike through the rainforest with a naturalist guide and spot nocturnal wildlife. (B, L, D)
Day at leisure to appreciate the tranquillity of the lodge's mountainside location, or choose an optional excursion such as a boat trip through the Caño Negro wetlands to observe sloths, monkeys, turtles and caimans.
