Accommodation rating: Good Standard
Rio Perdido enjoys a secluded and privileged position on a bluff overlooking two canyons, where the Rio Blanco meets the cascading thermal waters of the Rio Perdido hot springs. This location was once occupied by pre-Colombian tribes, who have left traces of broken pottery shards, and is now part of a private forest reserve. The strikingly designed main lodge features a spacious dining room, bar and lounge with beautiful panoramic views of the forests and distant volcanoes, as well as three thermo-mineral swimming pools and sun terraces. Elevated walkways lead to the 20 stand-alone bungalows, which are spread over the forested hillside, allowing close contact with nature and the surroundings, yet with minimal impact on the environment. The bunglaows have an attractive modern design of steel and wood, and feature light and airy modern interiors, air conditioning and balconies with hammocks. Extensive hiking trails surround the lodge and guests can relax and swim in the hot springs and natural river pools, as well as take spa treatments.
