Situated near Opunohu Bay, on the northeast coast of the island, the InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa, is sheltered from the prevailing winds due to its location between the mountains and the lagoon. The resort is set on 27 acres of lush gardens, which contains over 165 different species of trees, plants and flowers. Across the resort there are 17 Garden Suite Bungalows, 50 Overwater Bungalows, 28 Beach Suite Bungalows and 48 Garden View Rooms. All have been designed to combine contemporary luxury with local traditions and feature handcrafted Tahitian furniture and arts and crafts. Rooms also feature a private terrace or balcony, bathroom with separate bathtub and shower, air conditioning, satellite television and mini bar.
The Fare Nui restaurant has a large dining room and terrace and is positioned to overlook the lagoon. It serves delicate French cuisine and exotic local flavours. Far Hana restaurant is located by the swimming pool and serves a variety of local-recipe dishes, and the bar has views over the ocean. The Hélène Spa, the first Tahitian spa in Polynesia, offers a range of relaxation treatments and the Moorea Dolphin Centre, which shares the lagoon with Moorea Resort, has created a natural home for four bottlenose dolphins. Guests can learn about these fascinating creatures from the scientific and veterinary team who care for them.
