Tropical Queensland holidays

Tropical Queensland, in the north of the state, is centred around Cairns and encompasses the area from Cardwell and Mission Beach in the south to as far north as the remote Cape York peninsula. An hour from Cairns is the small town of Mossman, right on the edge of the world heritage-listed Daintree rainforest. The highlight here is Mossman Gorge, an accessible and scenic section of the Daintree rainforest, where strangler figs and epiphytic plants flourish, and the crystal-clear Mossman river cascades over granite boulders. Aboriginal guides can take you on fascinating guided walks through the gorge. Alternatively, take to the air in a helicopter and see where the lush rainforest and reef meet.
