Day 2: Victoria FallsArrive and proceed to your hotel for a freshen up, before your special welcome by a guest speaker ahead of your dinner. Overnight at the Pioneers Lodge (or similar). (D)
Day 3: Victoria FallsThis morning, visit a village approximately 20km from Victoria Falls town where you can witness daily life unfold. This is a chance for a rewarding cultural exchange as well as an insight into rural Zimbabwean living. Dine at a traditional local restaurant before returning to your hotel.
Later, a sundowner cruise on the Zambezi provides the cherry on top. Overnight at the Pioneers Lodge (or similar). (B, L)
Day 4: Victoria FallsEmbark on a private guided tour of Victoria Falls – whose local name aptly translates to ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. Whilst regaling you with interesting facts and figures, your guide will ensure you have plenty of opportunities to photograph this iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the Elephant’s Walk shopping centre and art village for a special behind-the-scenes visit of the Ndau Studio, meeting its local artists and craftsmen. Later this afternoon, stop by the famous Victoria Falls Hotel for afternoon tea on the Stanley Terrace with a view of the Victoria Falls Bridge. Nibble on savouries and cakes with your favourite tea. Return to the hotel with your evening at leisure. Overnight at the Pioneers Lodge (or similar). (B)
Day 5: Hwange National ParkA four-hour drive delivers you deep inside a private concession in Hwange National Park’s northern reaches. This region is renowned for wildlife viewing opportunities, as you will discover with days of thrilling safaris ahead of you. Overnight at Nehimba Lodge (or similar). On selected departures, guests stay at Camelthorn Lodge and experience the magical Elephant Express train. (B, L, D)
Days 6 & 7: Hwange National ParkSpend the next two days enjoying exclusive, tailor-made wildlife viewing. All the diversity of Hwange’s fauna and flora is within easy reach, and no two days are the same. Embark on day and night safari drives – the latter a chance to spot the nocturnal inhabitants of Zimbabwe’s wilds – as well as immersive walking safaris. Spend 2 nights at Nehimba Lodge (or similar). On selected departures, guests stay at Camelthorn Lodge and experience the magical Elephant Express train. (B, L, D)
Days 8-10: Matobo National ParkTransfer by road to the Matopos Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and your home for the next three days. Activities available range from safari drives and on-foot rhino treks to village tours and hikes to the rock paintings of the San bushmen. You also have the chance to visit the tomb of Cecil Rhodes, located at a spot he called the ‘View of the World’. Stay at Amalinda Lodge (or similar) for 2 nights. (B, L, D)
Days 11-12: Fly to the UK via JohannesburgAfter transferring to Bulawayo, depart on a scheduled flight to Johannesburg, where you are met and assisted to your return flight to the UK. Alternatively, extend your stay with a visit to neighbouring Botswana or a city break in Cape Town. (B)

Less than three kilometres from the stunning Victoria Falls, Pioneers is a serene and inviting lodge located in a quiet residential suburb. Its guestrooms are decorated in a classic style, and all offer clear and open views of the manicured gardens. At the heart of the lodge is the centrally located main area, with an airy lounge and restaurant. Nehimba Lodge is set on the edge of a large waterhole, deep within a private concession in the north of Hwange National Park. The area is requented by a variety of wildlife including large numbers of elephants, particularly in the dry season. Accommodation is in nine thatched chalets built on teak decks, all with private balconies and views of the waterhole. As well as comfortable double or twin beds, a ceiling fan and tea and coffee facilities, each chalet has en suite facilities with a bath and an exhilarating outdoor shower. Exceptional safari experiences await, with the diversity of Hwange's fauna and flora easily reached on walking safaris and game drives. Guests can track elephants on foot with expert guides at dawn, lounge by the pool overlooking the waterhole in the afternoon, and take exciting night game drives in search of nocturnal species. Nearby you'll be able to see any number of the 2,000 San rock art sites, still holding spiritual significance to the Ndebele people. Trek to the grave of Cecil Rhodes, enjoy a sunset hike to the top of the granite kopjes or hop in a 4WD for a game drive through the national park. There's a spa, salon and sauna, a swimming pool, library and sunset lounge. A thatched, elevated dining area is perfect for a delicious meal and there are two bars with a variety of drinks on offer.
