The majestic Nesbitt Castle is nestled in the quiet corner of Bulawayo's Hillside suburb and is the former private residence of early 20th-century pioneer Theodore Holdengarde. The Nesbitt Castle was restored and reopened as a boutique hotel in 1990 with the current owner, Digby Nesbitt, successfully recapturing the gothic and colonial eccentricity of his predecessor. Once through the narrow passageways and twisting staircases, guests will encounter nine individually styled bedrooms all with a colonial theme. These opulent rooms feature handcarved four-poster beds, heavily draped brightly coloured curtains and rugs, velvet covered day beds, dark wood furniture and cosy fireplaces. All rooms are en suite and feature air conditioning, ceiling fans, telephones and wireless internet access.
The award-winning Coach House restaurant seats up to 30 people and offers fine dining to hotel guests and local residents alike. There is also an old colonial smoking room, bar, billiards room, Swedish sauna, gym and library. Outside the extensive woodland and manicured gardens are home to a medieval chapel, swimming pool and mini wildlife park.
