Little Makalolo Camp is an intimate camp situated among teak forest in a private easterly concession in Hwange National Park. Connected to the main camp by wide sandy pathways, the six contemporary tented chalets are large and airy. Each chalet has a personal safe, writing desk and day bed with en suite bathroom featuring indoor and outdoor shower as well as his and hers washbasins. Large double doors at the front of the chalet lead to a private veranda with views of the camp's busy waterhole. The living areas include a dining room, lounge, plunge pool and an open fire area with meals focusing on international cuisine, which are generally served buffet style around the communal dining table.
Activities focus on day and night wildlife drives as well as walking safaris. There is also the popular 'log-pile' hide in front of the waterhole, a particular favourite with elephants, which allows for exciting close quarter encounters with the resident wildlife. The camp also supports two community-run schools in the nearby town of Ngamo, with visits providing a refreshing insight into the lives of local people.
