On a tailor-made itinerary to Zimbabwe, choose from the many national parks for superb wildlife watching, or marvel at the impressive Victoria Falls whilst staying at the historic Edwardian-style Victoria Falls Hotel.
Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest park and is home to huge numbers of Cape wild dogs as well as healthy populations of lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs and several bird species.
Take a scenic flight between Hwange and Mana Pools National Park for breathtaking views. Gather round Kanga Pan, one of the park’s only two water sources during the dry season, which is a hugely popular spot for wildlife. Game viewing activities here include canoeing, game drives, bush walks and birding.
If you’re seeking for species other than the Big Five, Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is home to creatures such as aardvarks, caracals, roan antelopes, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, endangered black rhinos and remarkable birdlife.
Alternatively, Matobo Hills National Park offers a combination of picturesque landscape and unique wildlife viewing with local history in this national park, now declared a world heritage site. Huge granite kopjes interspersed with grassy plains and dense wooded thickets provide a home for high concentrations of leopards, Verreaux’s eagles, and white and black rhinos. Alongside this are more than 3,000 ancient Khoisan rock art sites and the tomb of imperialist Cecil John Rhodes.
