Float downstream on a canoe safari

Travel by canoe through the floodplains of Zambezi to the confluence of the Luangwa River. On a canoe safari, explore numerous subsidiary channels of the Zambezi, where high concentrations of game and bird life co-exist.

Go bird watching

For birders, Zambia’s endless miombo woodlands, vast wetlands, sweeping grasslands, equatorial forests and montane wilderness areas are home to at least 750 species of bird, many of which are difficult to see anywhere else. Lodges we would recommend specifically for bird watching include Tafika Camp, Mchenja Bushcamp, Chongwe River Camp and Busanga Bush Camp to name a few.

Head off the beaten track

Take to the wilderness of Northern Zambia to discover hidden waterfalls and serene lakes, with hardly any other people in sight.

Visit Victoria Falls

Known locally as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’, meaning ‘The smoke that thunders’, Victoria Falls is one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. A number of excursions are available at the falls including helicopter and micro-light flights for stunning aerial views, picnic excursions on Lady Livingstone island and Zambezi river cruises.

Take a classic walking safari

For a true wilderness experience, there is nothing quite like a walking safari. Leaving behind the distracting sounds of a vehicle your senses quickly become attuned to your surroundings, making walking in the open near big game highly exciting. On a walking safari you also get to appreciate the smaller things that you would easily miss in a vehicle.

Genuinely small groups

Small groups promise a more personal touring experience. That’s why Cox & Kings maintains a maximum group size of 18 guests on most tours, and an average of just 14.
