Lilayi Lodge is located about 20km south of Lusaka on 650 hectares of untouched grassland, where 23 different species of mammals and more than 300 different bird species can be found. Lilyati Lodge is the perfect choice after arriving in Zambia to get gently introduced to the bush experience, before flying to one or more of the national parks. But not only that, it is also a great spot for some relaxation before or after a safari since the premises' amenities also include a large pool and a lovely restaurant with a great selection of fine wines. The lodge consists of spacious de luxe and family chalets with open plan en suite bathrooms and a wooden deck and veranda. The interior design is very modern but also merges with the nature the lodge is nestled in. All of the chalets provide an LED satellite television, wireless internet connection, bar/ fridge and coffee station. What makes the real difference though, is the elephant nursery that belongs to the lodge. It is managed by Game Rangers International and supported by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. The nursery rescues, brings up and rehabilitates orphaned elephant calves, which can be visited daily between 11.30am and 1pm. The lodge also offers wildlife activities on its own premises, such as safari drives, bush walks and horseback safaris.
