DAY 2: Victoria Falls

On arrival, transfer to Ilala Lodge for three nights. Set within pretty gardens, this luxury lodge places you just eight-minutes’ walk from the immense waterfalls. (N)

Visit a remote village for the chance to watch daily rural life unfold, then enjoy an authentic lunch at a local institute. (B, L)

Victoria Falls

Take a private guided tour of Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya (‘The Smoke That Thunders’). This is the largest sheet of falling water in the world. Its foam-white cataracts plunge some 108 metres into a basalt chasm, stirring up great veils of mist that split the African sun into rainbows. Afterwards, head to the Elephant Walk shopping centre and art village for a behind-the-scenes visit of Ndau Studio, creators of jewellery and leather accessories. (B)

DAY 5: Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park

Cross the border into Botswana, before driving into Chobe National Park for a classic safari drive. Encompassing sweeping plains, dense forests and riverine habitats, Chobe National Park hosts one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of grazing animals, including over 100,000 elephants. Stay at Chobe Marina Lodge for 2 nights. (B, L, D)

A short flight delivers you onto the banks of the mighty Okavango Delta. Stay at Little Machaba tented camp for 3 nights. (B, L, D)

Spend the day exploring the delta. Should water levels permit (typically late June to late September), cruise along the delta by mokoro, a traditional dug-out canoe that offers a different vantage point for witnessing life along the river. (B, L, D)
