Your premium package category B car hire will be delivered in the morning and you then have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city’s surrounds. The Cape of Good Hope and the penguin colony of Boulders Beach are both within easy reach and together make for an excellent day out. (B)

Drive to the picturesque Winelands, perhaps via Hermanus on the coast for whale watching. Stay 2 nights at the charming Le Cle Lodge in Franschhoek. (B)

Oudtshoorn
Drive to Oudtshoorn along scenic Route 62 and stay at Surval Boutique Olive Estate for two nights. Oudtshoorn, known as ‘the feather capital’, is set in the picturesque semi-desert region of the Little Karoo. (B)

Popular visits from Oudtshoorn include the dramatic Cango Caves and a visit to a local ostrich farm. It is also possible to explore the Swartberg Mountains on a half-day or full-day guided tour. Both options ascend on winding gravel roads to the Swartberg Pass and offer spectacular scenery and breathtaking views, as well as the opportunity for a short hike.
The Garden Route
You may wish to rise early and join an optional meerkat viewing excursion, before driving east to Knysna, where you will stay for three nights at Kanonkop House. (B)

Days at leisure to explore the Garden Route’s stretch of picture-postcard beaches, lakes, rivers, indigenous forests and impressive mountain passes. Other activities include boat trips to Knysna’s Featherbed Nature Reserve or to spot whales and dolphins around Plettenburg Bay. (B)
