Tinga Private Game Lodge is located in some 5,000 hectares of land in a private concession in the Kruger National Park and is situated 20 km from the Paul Kruger Gate. It is approximately 480 km and 5 hours by road from Johannesburg and approximately 130 km from Nelspruit. Accommodation at Tinga is in either Narina Lodge or Legends Lodge, both situated on the banks of both the Sabie River, which is believed to have the highest recorded densities of leopard in Africa and has the richest bio diversity of any South African river.
Legends is built around an enormous 200 year old Jackalberry tree, facing the river, where resident wildlife can often be seen and Naria, perfectly blending with the riverine forest vegetation, has a more African feel and a large sycamore fig tree attracts a myriad of birds from broadbilled rollers and green pigeons to trumpeter hornbills and lilac-breasted rollers. Each lodge has been developed to the same standard, has similar facilities and can accommodate up to 18 guests in 9 suites, all with en-suite bathroom and shower, large outdoor showers, private eternity swimming pools, a fireplace, a mini bar and air-conditioning. Lodge facilities include a library stocked with African literature, a wine cellar stocked with premier South African and international wines, a boma, bar and wellness treatment room.
Morning and afternoon game drives are conducted with professional guides and trackers, in open vehicles, which are allocated to a maximum of 6 people for additional comfort. With impressive numbers of flora and fauna; 147 mammals, 507 birds, 114 reptiles, 49 fish and 336 trees, the Kruger National Park is a great destination to explore on foot. Guides can take you on guided safari walks allowing for closer inspections of the smaller residents of the park.
