At a height of 57 metres, Cape Town's grain silo was the tallest building in sub-Saharan Africa when it opened in 1924. Closed since the turn of the 21st century, the iconic building has now reopened as a world-class art gallery and stylish boutique hotel. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick, the
Silo Hotel sits in the former grain elevator section of the silo, above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. Each guestroom has been individually designed and decorated with colourful and eclectic pieces which complement the modern, industrial architecture. The six categories of guestrooms have been designed by Liz Biden and offer views of Table Mountain and Signal Hill.
