The Cellars-Hohenort lies in Constantia valley just 20 minutes from Cape Town. A member of Relais & Chateaux, it offers stylish rooms and nine acres of award-winning landscaped gardens that have been designed to promote calmness and tranquility - a theme that has been carried through into the guest rooms.
This historic property, dating back over 200 years is a national monument and one of the oldest wine cellars in the region. Rooms in the historic Hohenort manor house have an Edwardian ambience and panoramic views of the peninsula, False Bay or the mountain. The luxury double rooms are the most popular rooms in the hotel featuring Laura Ashley style floral prints, traditional fabrics and canopy beds. The rooms in the Cellars building are more contemporary, with subtle muted tones. Some of the garden suites are duplex with a bedroom upstairs and the lounge area below and there is also a three bedroom villa which has it's own garden, courtyard and pool.
There are three pools on site as well as one and a half acres of vineyard. Although the vineyard doesn't have a license to sell wine they do produce a dessert wine, which guests can sample. At the relaxed Cape Malay restaurant guests can take part in the 'cooking with Martha experience' to learn all about traditional Cape cuisine. The Green House, one of Cape Town's finest restaurants, offers a more formal dining experience. Next to the Green House is the Martini bar, which has 152 different types of martinis. The property has 10 golf courses within a 12-minute drive and a free shuttle service is offered to anyone wanting to go to any of these. Due to its location it is best to have a car whilst staying here so that you can truly enjoy all that Cape Town has to offer. From the property there is a two and a half hour walk up to the top of Table Mountain but what you must remember is that it also takes two and a half hours to get back down.
