Marataba Safari Lodge is situated in a malaria-free 23,000-hectare private concession in the foothills of the Waterberg mountains and forms part of the Marakele National Park in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The lodge has 15 canvas-and-stone tented suites which are beautifully furnished and decorated with a contemporary twist. Each suite has its own private deck overlooking the sweeping plains and meandering river below. The suites also have a free-standing stone bath and an indoor and outdoor shower which takes full advantage of the dramatic scenery of the Waterberg mountains. Facilities around the lodge include a large lounge with a fireplace, a swimming pool, hammocks in the trees, a well-stocked library and a curio shop.
Wildlife drives with experienced rangers focus on the behaviour and habitats of the animals and the history and origins of the land, its people and cultures. You can also walk in the African bushveld. A variety of routes are on offer and have been created by animals who have walked the same paths, year after year, creating well-worn routes. Accompanied by a qualified guide, learn about the medicinal uses of the local flora, view animals up close and experience the rhythm and energy of the bush.
