Kirkman's Camp is located in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and has a traversing area of 6,300 hectares. A flight from Johannesburg to the Skukuza airstrip takes approximately one and a half hours, while a road transfer from Johannesburg will take approximately 5 hours. A flight from Kruger Mpumulanga International airport, takes 25 minutes and a road transfer takes 2 hours.
Named after one of South Africa's first conservationists, Kirkman's Camp is a throw back to a bygone era. The original homestead, overlooking rolling lawns, was built in the early 1920's and with a country manor house feel, guests literally 'step back in time' when they arrive here. There are 18 colonial style cottages, each beautifully decorated and showcasing the camps history. All rooms have a private veranda with great views and the bathrooms have a separate shower and a freestanding, claw-foot bath.
Dinner is traditionally served African-style in the boma and tables for breakfast and lunch are set out across the lawn. Facilities include an infinity swimming pool, a tennis court and a safari shop. Twice daily game drives are conducted in open 4x4 safari vehicles to try and track the Big 5, as well as a rich variety of other game and interpretive bush walks for a more intimate safari experience are also available.
