Accommodation rating: Luxury
Jock Safari Lodge is situated in the largest private concession in the southern area of the Kruger National Park, at the confluence of the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers. It is approximately 35 km to the Skukuza airstrip and 150 km to the Kruger International airport. The lodge is also easily accessible by road from Johannesburg as the drives takes just over 5 hours. Jock Safari Lodge is located in a malaria area so guests are advised to take precautions. Also, the small park fee to enter Kruger National Park cannot be prepaid so must be paid on arrival at the park gate.
The lodge has a unique style, blending the elegance of a past colonial era with indigenous Zulu and Shangaan cultures. At Main Jock, twelve luxury air-conditioned suites, each with their own private sala, overlook the river as do the romantic bathrooms and outdoor showers. Each suite is also fully equipped with 5 star amenities such as air conditioning, fans, tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar and safe and they each have a private plunge pool. The 3 luxurious suites at Little Jock are equipped with indoor or outdoor showers and their own viewing deck with beautiful views of the Kruger bushveld.
At Jock Safari Lodge African cuisine is served in a variety of locations, from fine dining indoors to outdoor gourmet dining in the Lapa under the African night sky. The bar, with a viewing deck overlooking the rock pool and the river, is accessible by stairs that wind through a 400 year old Jackalberry tree, where comfortable couches allow you to relax and reflect on your days activities. Morning and evening games drives are conducted in covered 4x4 Land rovers and walking safaris, bird watching, star gazing, visits to Rock Art sites and flora and fauna tours are also available from the lodge.
