Hog Hollow is approximately 18km (15-20 minute drive) from Plettenberg Bay en route to Port Elizabeth. It is located in a private nature reserve, on the edge of an indigenous forest, with views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
The 15 suites have a private deck that overlooks the indigenous Tsistikama forest as well as the 70 hectares of protected land owned by the property. The suites are comfortably appointed including king size beds, fireplaces and hammocks. Decorated in soft earthy tones and adorned with handcrafted artefacts the suites have a distinct African feel. Whilst rooms have mini bars and hi-fis they do not have TVs or telephones.
In the main house there are three lounge areas, a bar area, a reading room and a large dining room. Dining is communal and is a set 4-course meal. Acquaint yourself with other guests over a pre-dinner drink or for those who do not enjoy the communal dining experience, drive back to one of the restaurants in Plettenberg Bay. In the mornings breakfast can be enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the forest and evenings can be spent relaxing on a pile of comfy cushions by firelight at the boma. The swimming pool, deck area and sauna are all great places to unwind.
If you are looking to do something a little different there is a one-hour walk from Hog Hollow through the forest to Monkeyland and the Elephant Sanctuary. Before setting off you can arrange with the attentive and friendly staff a time to be picked up so that you don't have to do the walk back again. Another enjoyable option is to go to the Bramon Wine Estate for wine tasting and locally produced food.
