The best time to visit Rwanda is during the dry season, which runs from June to September. It’s one of the best times in the year for tracking gorillas, as it is dry underfoot; June is also when Kwita Izina is held, the gorilla naming ceremony.
There are two annual rainy seasons: the long rains between mid-February and early June, and the short rains between mid-September and mid-December. The wettest months are March to May and are ideally avoided. November to March hold the greatest appeal for birders and the wet season is the best time to track chimps in Nyungwe.
