Shipwreck Lodge, Skeleton Coast

This boutique lodge is not merely named for the striking shipwrecks that litter the surrounding Skeleton Coast National Park. Each of its 10 chalets has been designed to resemble these stranded vessels, with a hull-like exterior complete with porthole windows and jutting timbers – all appearing askew in the soft sands. Every chalet features an en-suite bathroom, writing desk, bedside lamp, wood-burning stove, small tea and coffee station, and safe.

Shipwreck Lodge’s main building features a restaurant, bar, communal dining area, reception, and internet access (intermittent due to remoteness). Activities available – depending on the weather – include guided shipwreck excursions, sandboarding, and sundowner drives.
