Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge is situated on a 4,000 hectare private game reserve not far from the small town of Kalkrand. The nature reserve and lodge is unique in that it consists of 2 very different types of deserts. The Kalahari's infinite red dunes and green valleys on one hand is contrasted by the great Karoo with grass steppes and scattered water banks. Food at the lodge is enhanced by the lodge's home grown herbs and fruits and can be served amongst the red dunes for a romantic setting. A board walk connect the main building with each of the lodge's chalets, all offering slightly different views of the surrounding landscape and named after the largest species roaming the reserve including springbok, impala, nyala, oryx and red hartebeest. Activities include wildlife drives, walks and mountain biking.
