Located in the Quirimbas Archipelago in northern Mozambique, a 25 minute light aircraft flight from Pemba to Ibo offers stunning aerial views of the archipelago and is a great introduction to this national park.
With a prime waterfront location, Ibo Island lodge consists of three magnificent mansions, each over one hundred years old. The first mansion, 'Bela Vista', houses the Lodge's restaurant, shop and the swimming pool in the main garden, while the rooms and suites are found in 'Villa Paradiso' and 'Villa Niassa' mansions. All bedrooms are unique and individually designed, with many opening onto private verandas. Indigenous teak and mahogany handcrafted furniture is present in all rooms, along with antique fittings and a king size bed. Dinners, served on the rooftop terraces with spectacular views over the ocean, combine traditional specialities with seafood, organic vegetables and herbs.
There are a multitude of things to see and do on Ibo - relax, swim, snorkel and explore. Ibo Island is home to one of the oldest, most interesting, atmospheric towns in Mozambique. With a rich cultural history dating back to at least AD600, learn of the Island's Arab, Portuguese and Dutch influences on a guided historical tour. Cultural and community interactive experiences are available as are dhow safaris and sunset cruises, mangrove forest excursions, fishing and relaxing massage treatments.
