Superior Group Tour in brief

Day 1: Fly to Nairobi

Fly from London (regional connections available) to Nairobi. Transfer to the Tamarind Tree Hotel (or similar) for the night. (N)

Day 2: Aberdare National Park

Drive to Aberdare, arriving for lunch at the Ark restaurant followed by leisure time. Overnight at The Ark (or similar). (B, L, D)

Days 3 & 4: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Spend 2 days on safari in pristine Ol Pejeta. Optional activities include a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Stay at Sweetwaters Serena Camp (or similar). (B, L, D)

Day 5: Great Rift Valley

Drive to Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley for an inspiring talk about conservationist Joy Adamson, to sample special Kenyan teas and to visit the museum. Overnight at Lake Naivasha Country Club (or similar). (B, L, D)

Days 6-8: Masai Mara

Transfer to the Masai Mara for 3 days of safari thrills. Admire prolific wildlife and sweeping views alongside expert rangers. Optional activities include walking safaris and a hot-air balloon ride. Stay throughout at Zebra Plains Camp (or similar). (B, L, D)

Days 9-10: Depart from Nairobi

Visit Nairobi’s Giraffe Centre, before flying home via Jomo Kenyatta airport (day-room facilities available). Alternatively, extend your journey at one of Kenya’s fine beaches. (B, L)

Wildebeest migration: 20 May 2022, 17 June 2022, 19 May 2023 & 16 June 2023 departure dates are those offering the best chance of seeing the wildebeest migration. Wildlife movements vary and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

    Tamarind Tree Hotel

    Opened in 2017, The Tamarind Tree Hotel is a superior property situated adjacent to Nairobi's Wilson Airport. The property includes all the facilities one would expect of a modern international hotel including a restaurant and bar-lounge. For those seeking to relax, an outdoor swimming pool is also located on site. Features: 160 rooms & suites, restaurant, bar-lounge, outdoor swimming pool. Room amenities: Television, air conditioning, hairdryer, Wi-Fi.

  • The Ark
    The Ark

    Located deep in the Salient area of the Aberdare National Park, The Ark offer superb opportunities for wildlife encounters, either at its own waterhole and salt lick or in the surrounding forests. Built to resemble a wooden ark, the property is comprised of three 'decks', all of which have balconies and lounges with large picture windows. The 'cabins' are small but comfortable and all offer views of a waterhole. If exciting wildlife visits during the night, an optional buzzer will alert guests so they can put on provided robe and slippers and enjoy the flood-lit spectacle. For up-close encounters, guests can spend time in the ground-level hideout, where animals can be observed by the salt lick only a few yards away. Features: 60 rooms, restaurant, bar, lounge, library, flood-lit waterhole, Wi-Fi. Room amenities: Private bathroom, complimentary toiletries, bottled water.

  • Sweetwaters Tented Camp
    Sweetwaters Tented Camp

    Built in the 1970s, Sweetwaters Tented Camp's main building was originally the residence of the ranch manager of the Ol Pejeta Private Conservancy in which it is located, approximately 200km north of Nairobi. Accommodation is in 56 luxuriously appointed tents, each with a thatched roof, an en suite bathroom and a veranda or balcony. The camp has a swimming pool and poolside bar. Activities include day and night wildlife drives, nature walks in the company of a resident naturalist, birdwatching and visits to the chimpanzee sanctuary.

  • Lake Naivasha Country Club
    Lake Naivasha Country Club

    Lake Naivasha Country Club's history dates back to the 1930s, when it was used as a staging post for a flying boat service from Durban to Dublin. The club has retained its colonial architecture and has expanded to spread over more than 20 hectares of manicured lawns and mature trees. Guestrooms are bright and spacious, and offer views of the lawns and wild beyond. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and a spa. Guests can take game drives in Hell's Gate National Park (named for the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries) and nature walks through Crescent Island, a private game sanctuary home to zebras, wildebeest, gazelles and waterbucks. Other activities include boat rides on Lake Naivasha and early-morning bird walks on the club grounds. Features: 50 rooms, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, gym, spa, laundry service.   • Zebra Plains Mara Camp
    Zebra Plains Mara Camp

    This boutique safari camp huddles in the plains of the Masai Mara, one of Africa's most famous wildlife reserves. The property appeals to nature photographers thanks to its scenic vantage point and frequent visits from the Mara's roaming, photogenic animals. Accommodation is provided in the form of en-suite tented rooms, with options catering to a variety of party sizes. All rooms include mosquito nets, reading tables, luggage racks, showers and wash basins, among other amenities. Zebra Plains Mara Camp features five lounges, one of which has a well-stocked bar attached, and another of which features a large television. Two warming bonfires afford guests additional spaces to gather, unwind and swap safari stories. There is also a spa offering a variety of treatments. The camp's experienced in-house chefs provide both local and international cuisine, and can offer vegetarian, halal and gluten-free options.
