Located on Lamu Island, The Red Pepper House is a boutique beach hotel offering the utmost in indulgence and relaxation. Just a 30 minute stroll from the historical Lamu town, which is home to hundreds of years of Swahili culture, the property is perfectly integrated into its natural surroundings and covered by a makuti thatched roof. Local builders constructed the property using techniques passed down from their ancestors. The main house is filled with Swahili art, one off colonial-style pieces and antiques from all over the world. There are no walls throughout the main house allowing guests to enjoy views out to the beach and forest that surrounds. The hotel has just five spacious nyumbas (the Swahili name for home), each offering a covered living area, veranda, open air African shower and a private boma and beach area. A private butler is also available to attend to your needs and even accompany you on visits and excursions if you wish. There are many places to eat, drink, relax and watch the sunset around the property including the swimming pool. Some of the activities that can be arranged include romantic private dining on the beach; bird watching in the surrounding forest, snorkelling, African spa treatments and dhow cruises.
